COMMUNITY
In 2008 the NDSM was almost sold to a housing corporation. to ensure that their rights and the artisstic climate were being respected the group of creative entrepreneurs joined forces. They organised themselves in the association 'De Toekomst" (the future). First seen by the other stakeholders as a temporary actiongroup it soon became clear that it was a force to be reckoned with.
There were even plans to buy the NDSM themselves.
Many meetings followed. But then the most active members realised that without community building and coming together as a group there would be no community.
So in 2009 the first open day was organised. It was called Hot Docks, and was the first event where everybody showed what they were doing to the general public and to eachother.
NDSM OPEN
this was the start op a new tradition which is now called NDSM OPEN. The association de Toekomst is now the legal reprresentative of the renters of the Kunststad. Quite a change from the start in 2008!

Van Scheepswerf naar vrijplaats.
Vrij-voorstel om op het buitenterrein van NDSM anders om te gaan met eigendom en beheer met als doel het een vrij toegankelijk EN cultureel aantrekkelijk en betaalbaar terrein van te houden. Door verschillend beheersvormen/ mensen (bottom-up) te laten zorgen voor hun 'eigen' tuin hou je een divers landschap door mensenhand gevormd.
